Established in 1932, Western University’s French Immersion School is Canada’s oldest and one of its most distinguished French immersion programs. Located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, Trois-Pistoles is at the heart of one of the most beautiful regions of la belle province. Western chose to locate its French immersion school here because of the town’s charm, intimate size, hospitality, and its friendly, French-speaking milieu. These qualities still characterize Trois-Pistoles today where French is the language of everyday life: on the streets, in shops, restaurants, and homes. The whole town is your campus – a living language laboratory.
Each spring and summer, the School welcomes over 600 students into its programs. Participants have the opportunity to enroll in a variety of degree-credit and non-credit language courses at all levels. These courses are complemented by lively language-based or personal interest workshops, a rich sociocultural program and exciting excursions.
A major cornerstone of our programming is homestay with local residents allowing participants to broaden and develop communicative skills in an informal, homelike setting.
Western University’s French Immersion School in Trois-Pistoles offers you an experience of a lifetime: a complete immersion environment, so that you not only learn French, but live the language and the culture of Québec.
